Optional Eco-Cycle Tour
(Friday, February 24, 2 - 4 PM)

You won’t want to miss this tour of the Boulder County Recycling Center (BCRC) led by operator and international recycling expert Eric Lombardi.  As the Executive Director of Eco-Cycle, the oldest and largest non-profit recycler in the nation, Eric Lombardi will discuss how this publicly-owned facility is a crucial component of Boulder County’s unique Zero Waste community program.

Learn how 40,000 tons of materials each year are automatically sorted through conveyer systems, magnets, and air currents and about plans to redesign the facility to go “single stream” where all recyclables are mixed together. Hear how this facility and other programs and facilities created by Eco-Cycle are put together to make Boulder County a model for the new global movement called “Zero Waste.”

Tour Participants will be transported from the Millennium Hotel to the BCRC immediately following the Summit closing luncheon. You will leave about 2:00 PM and be back at the hotel no later than 4:00 PM.
