Brad Bernthal, Director Entrepreneur Initiative, Silicon Flatirons Center and Associate Professor, CU Law School Forbes Ranks CU Boulder
1779_ 11/02/15 - "Forbes recently ranked CU Boulder as the 18th Most Entrepreneurial University in the country." We are speaking with Brad Bernthal and he says, "...a nice validation as these rankings are subjective, of course. But, we’re at least in the game and in the mix among the best places to be if you are at a university and looking to be involved in the innovation scene. You know it’s a crown jewel that we’re nested within, that out our front door is the Front Range Startup Community. Over the past ten years we’ve done our best to get our students off the campus and into that community as well as bring the community to the campus. That’s been powerful for us as we try to cultivate the activity and the entrepreneurial mindset in our students and faculty across the campus. This year we’ve initiated the Global Entrepreneurs in Residence Program (GEIR Program) and that brings entrepreneurs from other countries to Boulder… The deal is they work half time helping to build entrepreneurship on campus – so these individuals who are experienced entrepreneurs in their country of origin will be resources to help faculty, staff and students, at CU who are looking to build their own companies. This will be a magnet that brings international entrepreneurs to CU Boulder. Brad Feld is helping make this happen and that’s something to watch."

1779_ 11/02/15 - (part 1 of 4) Melodie Reagan, President & Owner, i2i Workforce, and Larry have collaborated on a very important four part series, Finding a Job and Being Found. We’re talking about your career and the ‘Job Search Process’ which has changed a great deal. Melodie begins this journey of managing your career and finding a job by developing context and reinforcing it with two words, Relevance and Keywords. Everything is moving so fast. The question you have to ask yourself is, ‘Are you maintaining your relevance?’ Before starting her business Mel worked in corporate as a marketing executive. Marketing has changed so radically in the last 15 years. It is crazy how much has gone online, how digital we’ve become. We’re constantly adapting – product life cycles can be as short as a couple of days, depending on what your sales cycle is. But if you’re not adapting and you don’t know how to use all the cool tools we have today in social media, you are no longer relevant. So, it’s about maintaining your relevance. The other thing – the job search process has gone online. What is a Keyword? It is a word or concept of great significance, you have to make sure you know your keywords… Today managing your career is your responsibility. Employers can no longer afford to invest in you beyond getting delivery of the base job. If you need new skills, you need to invest in you. You need to make yourself relevant, you need to manage your career. It’s about fitting. What is the market looking for and what is available?

So, How does one prepare for an interview? [part 3 of 4]
1885_ 02/1/16 - Today we definitely go through background and reference checks. Make sure you pass yours appropriately. Make sure your dates in background checks match. Go to an organization like i2i Workforce and have them run a background check. If you've been considered for employment, you can ask the employer to share some of that information or go to a background check organization and have them run a check on you so you can see how you show up. Like a Credit Check with improper charges, you can have 'bad data' - It's up to you to correct it.

So we set out to create a service that would make it easy to find and fix email problems, and give developers and marketers a place to talk about email. We love email (obviously), and are dedicated to making email testing and marketing as simple as possible. Alan Beaulieu, Principal, ITR Economics® Fiscal Reality from One of the country’s most informed economists
enclosure-voice 1486_ 1/13/14 - For a little shot of reality, we are talking with Alan Beaulieu during his annual economic forecast at the ACG Denver 2014 Opening Luncheon. (Note: We've interviewed Alan several times over the years - be sure to check out his view of the future then and now.) ITR Economics focuses on the U.S. and European economy with offices here and there. Today Alan is talking about fiscal reality, a refreshing look at life as it is. "We started with the Affordable Health Care Act. You may be hearing the administration saying because of Obama Care they have slowed down the rate of rise in healthcare - you'll be seeing headlines about that in numerous sources. Keep in mind that it is a very negligible change and the numbers they're citing are before the healthcare act really came into being, 2014 is the real year of the healthcare act. So the slowdown really has to do with the softness we had in the economy in 2013 than it does with anything else, just a normal part of the economy. We think the healthcare act could be a headwind for consumers if the administration is right and millions of healthy young individuals go to the exchange." One of the country’s most informed economists, Alan Beaulieu, is a principal of ITR Economics™ where he serves as President. He leads the company’s European office and serves as chief economist for numerous U.S. and European trade associations. He is co-author of Make Your Move, a book on profiting in business cycle changes, and is a contributing editor for Industry Week magazine...Listen for more...

Bel-Air, Friday morning 2/27/2015, Leonard Nimoy
1684_ 3/2/15 - DERRIK J. LANG/AP Entertainment Writer | LOS ANGELES Leonard Nimoy, Space Symposium 2010 Leonard Nimoy didn't just leave a lasting impression on the science-fiction genre, he also left his mark on science itself. Seth Shostak, who researches the possibility of real-world extraterrestrial life as the senior astronomer at SETI Research, recalled that Nimoy was regularly willing to lend the organization a helping hand. When he was asked to narrate a planetarium introduction or appear as a guest at an event, Nimoy did so graciously and never charged. "That struck me then, and it strikes me now," said Shostak. "If you play a famous alien, you might have little interest in how science is searching for real aliens, but Nimoy was actually interested in the science — and he was always willing to help us out." There is lightness and joy after brain trauma injuries
1775_ 10/19/15 - If you're a football fan, especially a Cincinnati Bengals fan, you may well recognize Tim Krumrie. After 27 years in professional football and coaching, Tim now serves as Brain Injury Territory Representative for CereScan, the leading functional brain imaging company specializing in processes that assist medical professionals in the detection and quantification of complex brain disorders, such as traumatic brain injury. Like so many sports personalities and military personnel you've heard about, Tim suffered several concussions as a professional player. Though Tim is quick to point out, this isn't a problem limited to professional sports. Look in the mirror, at your children and your spouse - traumatic brain injuries occur to so many and we're all so susceptible. Tim tells his story with a mission in mind. He's inspired because he's regained his cherished memories, and the peace and happiness that had been lost because of his untreated and undiagnosed brain traumas. Think what this can mean to our returning vets, to the young student who took a spill while perfecting his skateboard moves, the biker, the individual who slipped on the ice or was in a car accident. Listen to Tim Krumrie for more.

Drives the Colorado economic climate forward
Erik Mitisek, CEO, Colorado Technology Associationenclosure-voice 1517_ 3/17/14 - Larry asked for an overview of what CTA is doing. Since Erik Mitisek came on board (as CEO, Colorado Technology Association) last June, "Some of the core things we've done to really amplify CTA's impact is to take a look at public policy and government activity in the state of Colorado. To build a business climate that not only exemplifies the climate that we want to represent to those inside and outside the state - but for companies that are building businesses here in the tech sector - making it easier, more economical and more efficient for them to operate within the government. This year within our public policy strategy we've been really blessed with some great leadership to change that. So as we go into 2014 our public policy activity around advocacy for technology related issues has never been stronger. With a board of over 45 technology leaders that really exemplify the core tech leadership in the state - some of the best CIOs, CEOs and service providers that are leading the tech initiative, both in terms of size and scale, and some of the largest employers in the state are represented on our board. But also the innovation and kind of new technology economy with great entrepreneurs that are on our board as well. That board really exemplifies the excitement of Colorado." Erik said, "I think the new future of CTA is to deeply invest in workforce and talent pipeline, to make sure we are matching workers of tomorrow in Colorado both with relevancy and with consistency inside our core IT workforce." enclosure-voice 1561_ 6/9/14 - We are at the CTA Industry Briefing & Legislative Session Celebration speaking with JB Holston, Chairman, Sitrion and Co-Chair of CTA's Public Policy Committee to talk about the legislative session and CTA's public policy efforts in general. JB said their committee got together about a year ago and decided to make some changes to effect better results from their efforts. They began by "...identifying the key issues we wanted to talk about well ahead of the next legislative session and the other thing was to start developing relationships with the legislators so that as the session started we could have conversations with folks that knew us, we'd gone to lunch with, had coffee with, talked about some of these issues informally with. That was a big change in the way CTA had been involved in the legislative process and I think it paid big dividends this year." The Ultimate Win - Your Goal1486_ 1/13/14 - Don't Let Another Year Go By - The Ultimate Win is Yours! Larry Nelson has taught this material in seminars in over a dozen countries, from China to Canada, from Norway to Australia, from Germany to Japan as well as throughout the US. He shares the results of his international research about the Characteristics of an Achiever and then goes on to help you lay out your "personalized blueprint" for personal and professional success. Larry is an internationally published author, has been a consultant to many Fortune 1000 companies and is best known for his train-the-trainer programs and w3w3.com Talk Radio. Larry and Pat developed these materials 20 years ago and put them up on the web in July 2007. The ‘Ultimate Win’ link below takes you to a page that allows you to download and print the entire Resource Guide and listen to all the Audio Sections for FREE.
